چکیده

We review what is different and what is similar in a color superconductor as compared to an ordinary BCS superconductor. The parametric dependence of the zero-temperature gap, φ0, on the coupling constant differs in QCD from that in BCS theory. On the other hand, the transition temperature to the superconducting phase, Tc, is related to the zero-temperature gap in the same way in QCD as in BCS theory, Tc/φ0 ≃ 0.567.

Angular Momentum Mixing in Crystalline Color Superconductivity

In crystalline color superconductivity, quark pairs form at non-zero total momentum. This crystalline order potentially enlarges the domain of color superconductivity in cold dense quark matter. We present a perturbative calculation of the parameters governing the crystalline phase and show that this is indeed the case. Nevertheless, the enhancement is modest, and to lowest order is independent...

Color Superconductivity in Dense Quark Matter

A brief introduction into the properties of dense quark matter is given. Recently proposed gapless color superconducting phases of neutral and betaequilibrated dense quark matter are discussed. The current status in the field is described, and the promising directions of the future research are outlined.

Chromomagnetic Instability and Gluonic Phase in Dense Neutral Quark Matter

The phase structure of hot and/or dense QCD is one of the most exciting current topics in the field of strong interactions. In particular, the properties of cold and dense quark matter are of great interest in astrophysics and cosmology; it is now widely accepted that, at moderate densities of relevance for the interior of compact stars, quark matter is a color superconductor and has a rich pha...

Unconventional Color Superconductor

Superfluidity or superconductivity with mismatched Fermi momenta appears in many systems such as charge neutral dense quark matter, asymmetric nuclear matter, and in imbalanced cold atomic gases. The mismatch plays the role of breaking the Cooper pairing, and the pair-breaking state cannot be properly described in the framework of standard BCS theory. I give a brief review on recent theoretical...

Opening the Crystalline Color Superconductivity Window

Cold dense quark matter is in a crystalline color superconducting phase wherever pairing occurs between species of quarks with chemical potentials whose difference δμ lies within an appropriate window. If the interaction between quarks is modeled as point-like, this window is rather narrow. We show that when the interaction between quarks is modeled as single-gluon exchange, the window widens b...

Multi fluidity and Solitary wave stability in cold quark matter: core of dense astrophysical objects

Considering the magneto-hydrodynamic equations in a non-relativistic multi uid framework, we study the behavior of small amplitude perturbations in cold quark matter. Magneto-hydrodynamic equations, along with a suitable equation of state for the cold quark matter, are expanded using the reductive perturbation method. It is shown that in small amplitude approximation, such a medium should be co...
